Broadcast Licensing

Required for TV, radio, cable, and satellite broadcasters. If have a license from the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT), https://tatt.org.tt/ and you’re broadcasting or producing content using COTT members’ music, you’ll need authorisation for the broadcast and reproduction of that content.

Licenced TV, radio, cable, and satellite broadcasters are required to obtain a COTT licence which allows them to broadcast music to their audiences.  By granting a “blanket” licence for your broadcasts, COTT can permit the use of millions of musical works on your station without you having to clear the copyrights individually.

Why do I also need a Blanket Mechanical Licence?

The broadcast licence allows you to transmit musical content while the blank mechanical licence allows you to reproduce a musical work or sound recording in any material form, including any permanent or temporary storage for broadcasting within Trinidad and Tobago.

Regardless of whether you buy your programming or make the content yourself, if your programmes, adverts, and trailers contains our members music then you will need a licence.
