The Copyright Music Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago (COTT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The South African Music Performance Rights Association on July 20, 2023. The memorandum of understanding will enable both organisations to collaborate on the following:
- Reciprocal Agreements
- Exchange Programmes
- Music Promotion Programmes

Curtis Jordan-President, COTT
“COTT has been working assiduously to establish new connections for the benefit of our members. This agreement will not only create pathways for the exchange of data to facilitate distributions to our members but will also generate new opportunities for musical collaboration and exchange between both countries. We hope to purse these opportunities to further establish key developmental programmes to aid the growth and development of both our membership and the music industry in 2024.” -Curtis Jordan, President-COTT.

Mr. Pfanani Lishivha – C.E.O-SAMPRA
Mr. Pfanani Lishivha the Chief Executive Officer at SAMPRA relayed the enthusiasm of SAMPRA to facilitate mutually beneficial exchanges between both countries. “Music is a universal language and knows no boundaries, Trinidad and Tobago shares a rich history with South Africa, and it is our pleasure to continue this long-standing tradition of working alongside each other as partners and collaborators to the benefit of both our culture, and our creators.”
This latest signing comes in addition to COTT’s growing list of reciprocal agreements that it has established with various Collective Management and Performing Rights Organisations over time. COTT currently has 84 reciprocal agreements which facilitates the licensing of international music within Trinidad and Tobago
