Press Release COTT IFPI

May 21st, 2024.- The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), Regional Office for Latin America & The Caribbean, and the Copyright Organization of Trinidad & Tobago (COTT) signed today a renewal of the long-standing exclusive agreement for the collection and distribution of the performance rights of IFPI’s members in Trinidad & Tobago.

This renewal provides COTT with the exclusive mandate for the representation of IFPI member companies for the period 2024-2027.

The agreement sets forth the terms and conditions for the technical and institutional cooperation between both organizations, including the implementation of best practices on collections and distributions of royalties.

An important part of the agreement includes COTT’s mandate to maintain IFPI’s international members, such as SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP and WARNER MUSIC GROUP as members.

The signing ceremony took place at the IFPI’s Regional Office located in Miami Florida, between Curtis Jordan, President of COTT’s Board of Directors, John Arnold, Producer Director at COTT’s Board of Directors, and Adriana Restrepo, IFPI Regional Director for Latin America and The Caribbean.

Curtis Jordan said, “we are committed to strengthening the institutional agreement with the IFPI; this is an important relationship for COTT in order to achieve a greater protection for neighboring rights of national and international record producers in Trinidad & Tobago.”

Adriana Restrepo said “IFPI have seen COTT’s progress and determination on the protection of record producers’ performance rights in Trinidad & Tobago. We are confident that COTT’s Board of Directors and staff will continue honoring our mutual commitments on the years ahead.”
